In honor of Valentine’s Day approaching, I figured it was time to put together an official list for you of my favourite Banff and Canmore hotels for a romantic stay! There’s nothing more magical and special than staying in an accomodation straight out of a fairytale book nestled in the mountains, sipping hot chocolate under a cozy blanket with your favourite person in the world.
All of these recommendations appear to have availability for Valentine’s Day weekend (if you’re a local of the area looking for a staycation). Feel free to save this post for future planning purposes when the time is right to travel to Banff and area again.

If you’re looking for the crème de la crème of where to splurge on a decadent stay in Banff with your sweetie, it’s obviously the Fairmont Banff Springs! This world-class resort requires no introduction, so if you’re wanting to treat your king/queen to a getaway to remember, snag a stay at this mountain fairytale castle ASAP.
Moose Hotel & Suites features a beautiful full-service spa with gorgeous outdoor hot tub area, perfect for couples wanting a little bit of pampering and TLC. They’re located in a perfect location right downtown on the main street that is close to everything.
Stay here and enjoy a stunning mountain backdrop right outside your door as you wander the charming little town of Banff, checking out all of the best shops, then relax back at the spa before heading out to dinner at one of Banff’s best restaurants.
Banff Caribou Lodge & Spa has a gorgeous full-service spa on site and a great steakhouse restaurant (The Keg!), making this an easy and perfect choice to spend a memorable romantic trip. This beautiful hotel has a Cave and Basin-themed hot pool that is also open to the elements through an opening in the roof! This is truly a unique experience that is exclusive to guests staying at the Fox Hotel & Suites and one you’ll want to add to your bucket list.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA: BANFF AND LAKE LOUISE
There is SO much to do around Banff! Here are just a few of my suggestions: Here are a few of my recommendations of what to do in the nearby Banff and Lake Louise area:
- Hike Johnston’s Canyon
- Go ice skating around Banff and Lake Louise: here are some of my favorite places to skate
- Drive the gorgeous Icefields Parkway
- Take one of the amazing hikes in the area, such as the Johnston Canyon Ice Walk
- Check out the “downtown” area of Banff for some shopping
- Photograph the famous Morant’s Curve: less than a 10 minute drive from Baker Creek!
- Go skiing, snowboarding, or tubing at Mount Norquay Ski Resort

Where to Stay in Canmore for a Romantic Getaway

This beautiful hotel features a gorgeous outdoor hot tub and pool area with stunning views of the mountains! All 124 rooms at the Malcolm Hotel feature thoughtful touches (such as espresso makers and bathrobes) for a charming stay. The hotel is close to everything Canmore has to offer. You can’t go wrong with this option!
If you’re the type of couple who loves value, you can’t go wrong with this pretty and cozy little boutique option in Canmore! Lamphouse Hotel is an affordable, but still a very comfortable stay for mountain adventurers located right in the heart of Downtown Canmore. It offers modern room designs with mountain and creek side views and is walking distance to pretty much everything Canmore has to offer.
Another more affordable option for those of you value-loving couples! Along with a truly epic outdoor hot tub with mountain view, Basecamp Suites offer apartments complete with a kitchen with fridge, oven and stove, and even a dishwasher. Cook your own romantic dinner in your apartment at Basecamp and enjoy incredible mountain views.
If you’re looking for more of a quaint “b&b” feel, A Bear & Bison Inn in Canmore might be for you! It features a lovely spa tub, a charming garden, and breakfast is included!
All 10 individually-decorated rooms feature free WiFi and pillowtop beds. Upscale amenities in some of the rooms include fireplaces and jetted tubs!
If you’re looking for a resort with fantastic, cozy rooms with deep soaking tubs and all the amenities of home, this is the place for you.
